Though my formal education is in engineering, my passion is helping others and finding creative ways to solve meaningful problems. Early in my career, I grew frustrated with the endless technology push and what felt like mostly solutions looking for a problem rather than the other way around. For the last ten years, I’ve paired my engineering problem solving with a curiosity for understanding user pain points and built a career as a user experience professional.

I spent three years as a design research consultant working with some of the largest companies in the medical device industry. I traveled the world, spending my days in clinics, operating rooms, patients’ homes. My work spanned the broad range of the research spectrum: from strategic, blue sky innovation through focused tactical work, examining very specific questions. I performed a mix of qualitative and quantitative work, as well as human factors and ergonomics testing necessary for FDA submissions.

My last five years I've worked in-house, first at Lenovo working on notebook and tablet PCs and currently at Citrix, working on enterprise software platforms. As always, my focus on understanding our users through research, translating and driving insights into user-centered solutions, and leading a team of UX professionals around the globe.

Working both in-house and as a consultant has given me a broad range of experiences and the understanding of what it takes to lead innovation into today's evolving business landscapes.

I am currently based in Raleigh, NC with my wife, daughter, and dog.

Matt is a passionate person with uncommon vision and a flair for beautiful design. He is an atypical engineer that excels in communication with engineers and non-technical people alike. Matt's contributions in the early-stages of NuCurrent, especially with regards to his ability to focus on the "big picture", were essential to the growth of the company.
